Festival Revisited

First things first...We are truly blessed to have the means to set a pretty table and invite our friends to join us for good food and fellowship. I am mindful that many are not so fortunate. My daughter has a passion for the work of the Food Bank. As a singer-songwriter, she has written and recorded a song that is the anthem for the world wide Crop Hunger Walk project. Her song, "Raise Your Voice" is featured in their video. I've included a link in the side margin of my blog. I hope that it will encourage you to support projects in your community that contribute to the effort to overcome hunger.

This week I am in the process of preparing for a wedding luncheon for a dear friend of my precious daughter.  The luncheon will be on Friday and located away from my home.  I am taking the china and doing the flowers for a luncheon for 120 women.  My daughter and I have the china all packed up to travel.  I bought the flowers today, and tomorrow we'll create 15 centerpieces, plus a larger presentation piece for the dessert table.  I'll share the results with you next week for Tablescape Thursday.

Today I am going into my archives to bring you a photo tour of another Kappa Alpha Theta Flaming Festival, which takes place each year during the first week of November.  Do you remember our centerpiece for the 'Tea Table at the 2010 event'?  We created the White House out of Haviland China, HERE.  Tonight's post will be picture intensive and relatively short on commentary.  I hope that you enjoy the journey.

This was the table that I did with my friend, Barb...
 I made the tablecloths...
The crystal is Barb's, by Baccarat...She also contributed the amazing Waterford Presentation Bowl for the centerpiece, her mom's Haviland Chocolate Pot and cups, and the lovely sterling flatware...
You may recognize our Nana's antique French crystal chiller and underplate.  We also used some of my collection of vintage cutwork linen napkins with blue embroidery.  The blue charger plate is Stouffer, a great get on eBay.  The white plate is my Haviland, "Ranson."
We called our table, "Hot Chocolate and the Blues."

This caught my eye because my grandsons so enjoy "Thomas the Train."

Mackenzie-Child's "Courtly Check" is a perennial favorite at the Flaming Festival.

Great idea for a Gift Wrapping Party!

This tablescape does not particularly appeal to me, but I do adore the table cloths!

Interesting use of color and textures!

This precious candy party could be translated for any time of the year.

The colors...the linens...the textures...the birds...the candelabra...I love this tablescape!

A touch of Italy...

I can see several of you...Paris House!?...Fifi Flowers!?... taking this idea and running with it...pun intended...I'd recommend using new shoes!

William Yeoward, "Gosford,"...always amazing!

A gumdrop topiary and all-day suckers...

Candy trees and gum balls plus, plus, plus...a magical confection...can't you just see a tea party for little princesses!

That's my tour; I hope that you found an idea or two for your resource files.  I'd love to see how you interpret some of these designs.  I'm excited to hop over to Tablescape Thursday and see what you have to offer this week!

Thank you, yet again, to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting her magical meme, "Tablescape Thursday.  I'll be linking my post to "Tablescape Thursday.  Click on the button below to hop on over and check out the myriad of marvelous tablescape designs, after 9:00 pm on Wednesdays.  You'll be glad that you made the trip...it's a wonderful adventure.

You can check out KC's music at www.kcclifford.com, on iTunes, and on YouTube.  I hope that you'll take a few minutes and give her a listen.  You'll also enjoy reading back through her blog on this site.  The girl can really write!  Her latest CD is called "Orchid."  It is available on iTunes or through her website.  I hope that you'll give her music a chance.  I know that I have zero objectivity where she is concerned, but I think that you'll fall in love with her music and her!

  1. WOW!!!! I absolutely love the linens on your table they are beautiful! My 9 year old fashionista saw the "high-heeled" table and had a fit then I scrolled down and the candy was next and she couldn't decide but I think she's leaning towards the shoes! That's my girl :)

If you haven't stopped by my blog and signed up for my first give away, please do! I'd love for you to have a chance.

  3. I'm so glad you shared all of these tables, but my brain is on overload! "Hot Chocolate and the Blues" is a great name -- and a great table. ...Have a wonderful wedding luncheon; what a thoughtful thing to do -- and away from home, too! Been there, done that myself, and I know it's a lot of work! You'll be in my thoughts.

  9. Total eye candy. We just did this for a Christmas dinner at church. I used one that I had set up on the table, the White Christmas one. It was fun but this is fun because the variety is greater than just Christmas ones.
