Take Out

"First things first...We are truly blessed to have the means to set a pretty table and invite our friends to join us for good food and fellowship. I am mindful that many are not so fortunate. My daughter has a passion for the work of the Food Bank. As a singer-songwriter, she has written and recorded a song that is the anthem for the world wide Crop Hunger Walk project. Her song, "Raise Your Voice" is featured in their video. I've included a link in the side margin of my blog. As you consider your own philanthropic opportunities, I hope that it will encourage you to support projects in your community that contribute to the effort to overcome hunger.

Sweet Mister has a handful of hunting buddies who are not married, and periodically we invite them to join us at the table for a casual, often take-out, meal.  Tonight Sweet Mister stopped by Outback Steak and picked up delicious filets with all the fixins for our dinner for three.  I prepared the table as he was on his way home.

As I'm certain you suspected, we dined at the games table in the living room...

...Keeping it masculine, I chose the black and white with a touch of apple green color story.

One of my go-to tureens, the Wedgwood, "Patrician", and a pair of the Lenox urns topped with the green Hypericum berries topiary ball took minutes to place on the table....centerpiece...check.

The Williams-Sonoma, white on black tablecloth was an eBay find.  I recently also found it in a size to fit my dining table.  That will let me use it for dining with up to 20 guests.

I just finished ironing the Pottery Barn, Hemstitch Linen Napkins, used for the Wild Game Dinner, so they were right at hand for tonight's supper.  These are really nice napkins.  The Hemstitch Napkin from Williams-Sonoma has a double row of hemstitching.  For the longest time, I didn't even realize that they were different.  Just saying', in case you have a design preference.

The Wedgwood, "Queens Plain," dinner plate continued the black and white story, as did the L'Argent, "Sophia" flatware, found at Tuesday Morning and through Horchow.

I've always liked a white-on-white approach to design.  The Wedgwood, Majolica "Dysart Leaf" plate achieved just the look that I wanted.  This particular plate has a satin, almost matte glaze finish.  I found most of them on eBay, but this week I picked up 8 of them at an estate sale for $25.00.  Woohoo!  Replacements has them for $25.00 each.

The black goblets were a very inexpensive  eBay purchase....don't know the maker.  I don't use them often, but every once in a while, they are the perfect solution.

Well, slam bam and thank you ma'am, I'm done.  Sweet Mister is almost home, and our  friend should be at the door at any moment.  Take out and a nicely laid table...I like this equation a lot!

I've also set an Easter table, but it lacks one element to be complete.  I hope that it will arrive at the door tomorrow.  If it is delayed, I have an alternate plan, so this week I'm going to post two tablescapes.  I wanted to be sure that I was able to join Cuisine Kathleen for "Let's Dish." ergo this post.  Probably TMI, but I hope that you'll visit both of my posts. Happy Easter!  NOTE:  My second post has been published.  I would love for you to also check out, "EASTER CONFECTION"!

Thank you, yet again, to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting her magical meme, Tablescape Thursday.  I'll be linking my post to "TABLESCAPE THURSDAY."   Hop on over and check out the myriad of marvelous tablescape designs, after 10:00 AM on Thursdays.  You'll be glad that you made the trip...it's a wonderful adventure.

When I think of April, I think of the anticipation of Easter Sunday and entertaining friends with a delicious dinner.  How about you?  With thankfulness for her dedication and efforts, I'm joining the multi-talented Tablescaper for her fabulous meme SEASONAL SUNDAYS.  Hope to see you there!

Tonight is the third edition of Cuisine Kathleen's meme, "LET'S DISH".  So excited to become a charter member.  Pop over (pun intended for the Chef Supreme Kathleen) and join the fun!

You can check out KC's music at www.kcclifford.com, on iTunes, and on YouTube.  I hope that you'll take a few minutes and give her a listen.  You'll also enjoy reading back through her blog on this site.  The girl can really write!  Her latest CD is called "Orchid."  It is available on iTunes or through her website.  I hope that you'll give her music a chance.  I know that I have zero objectivity where she is concerned, but I think that you'll fall in love with her music and her!

  1. I like the idea of take out at a beautiful table - so sane!
I have never purchased anything on ebay, but I think it's time for me to take the plunge - if only for napkins.

  10. Wow--takeout from Outback--that's a great idea. We only go there to eat, but my husband loves their steak. So interesting about the differences between the PB and WS napkins. Their products are very similar, and sometimes identical. I hope your special item arrives tomorrow in time for your other table. Happy Easter! Linda
