Same Song, Second Verse

First things first...We are truly blessed to have the means to set a pretty table and invite our friends to join us for good food and fellowship. I am mindful that many are not so fortunate. My daughter has a passion for the work of the Food Bank. As a singer-songwriter, she has written and recorded a song that is the anthem for the world wide Crop Hunger Walk project. Her song, "Raise Your Voice" is featured in their video. I've included a link in the side margin of my blog. I hope that it will encourage you to support projects in your community that contribute to the effort to overcome hunger.

Several weeks ago, I shared a Christmas luncheon that I hosted for friends, A Cup of Christmas Tea, Variation I.  This week, I wanted to continue the story with A Cup of Christmas Tea, Variation II.  I used the same concept to create a Christmas luncheon for a second group of dear friends.  I made a few changes...just because I wanted to mix it up a little.

We're back at the games table and tree-side...

Music will be provided by the Simpich Carolers, holding their seasonal concert on the refectory table.

Look familiar?  There are really only three tweaks to this table...

...A new group of the wonderful teapots painted by the fabulous PATTI @ PANDORA'S BOX.  Once again, they were perfect as my centerpieces and a delightful surprise for my friends, who took them home as their Christmas gifts from me.

...The tea strainers are new, just because I couldn't find them for the first luncheon.  I served a delicious Creme Brûlée tea with dessert.

...The final change for today's luncheon was the antique Rose Famille Dinner Plate.  I decided to use them just because I thought that I might like them in the mix.  I did.

It was a wonderful day for food and fellowship with precious friends...

...a time to create cherished memories that made Christmas, 2012, special.  If you happen to pass my way, I'd love to set a table full of memories for you, too!

Wednesday is the 42nd edition of Cuisine Kathleen's meme, "LET'S DISH".  I'm excited to be a charter member.  Pop over (pun intended for the Chef Supreme Kathleen) and join the fun!

Lots of great ideas to be gathered when you visit Yvonne at Stone Gable forTUTORIALS, TIPS, & TIDBITS.  Don't waste another moment...hurry on over!

Thank you, yet again, to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting her magical meme, Tablescape Thursday.  I'll be linking my post to "BETWEEN NAPS ON THE PORCH."   Hop on over and check out the myriad of marvelous tablescape designs, after 10:00 AM on Thursdays.  You'll be glad that you made the trip...it's a wonderful adventure.

When I think of January, I think of how nice it is to have all the Christmas decorations stored away until next year.  I love our Christmas house, but I always appreciate the pared down version each January.  How about you?  With thankfulness for her dedication and efforts (even in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy), I'm joining the multi-talented Tablescaper for her fabulous memeSEASONAL SUNDAYS.  Hope to see you there!

This week I'm inking to Jamiann at The Blackberry Vine for Tuesday's To Do and List Makers.  Come along to find some inspiration and fun!

You can check out KC's music at www.kcclifford.com, on iTunes, and on YouTube.  I hope that you'll take a few minutes and give her a listen.  You'll also enjoy reading back through her blog on this site.  The girl can really write!  Her latest CD is called "The Tag Hollow Sessions""  It is available on iTunes or through her website.  I hope that you'll give her music a chance.  I know that I have zero objectivity where she is concerned, but I think that you'll fall in love with her music and her!

  3. A gorgeous table and your friends must have felt so special. Love your gift for them, so beautiful. I have always admired the pattern of your teacup. That is a very old pattern and I have a dear friend who was given a complete set that belonged to her mother. Every time she uses them I am always wishing I had that pattern. Lovely table!!!

I love the carollers (I have a collection of Possible Dreams carollers) and I admire the way you displayed them on "snow"...I will have to remember this for next year.

    Happy New Year, dear friend!

  12. Spectacular, Cherry Kay!! I ♥♥♥ every inch of it & missed the first one, so I'll go back to find it.

Your Simpich Carolers are so charming & your tree looks lovely in the corner.
The painted teapots knocked my socks off! I didn't know Patti did those, although I've admired other projects of hers.

You have such a wonderful calling to sharing your blessings with your friends & with us. Thank you SO MUCH for that!

    Hugs,

  13. This table is definitely a favorite! And I just showed your carolers scene to my husband. We definitely wish it had worked out to connect when we came home from Santa Fe. We arrived last night, quite tired after driving the last two days in rain. We certainly didn't enjoy the fare and the ambience you served your friends on our way home!

It is good to be home, and we will be going back to Santa Fe, possibly sooner than later, so maybe next time.

  18. So elegant and beautiful. "A Cup of Christmas Tea" is my favorite holiday story. I have done two charity tablescapes with that theme, always using my Homer Laughlin china with pink roses inherited from my Aunt Minnie. Always hoping the theme will encourage guests to visit their aunts and other elderly friends and relatives. The story always brings tears to my eyes as I feel like I am six again!

  19. You might guess I'm crazy about the way you mixed patterns. That is what makes your table so interesting, and I do love the cupcake cloche.

You didn't miss a single detail, even the backdrop to the carolers looks like something out of a Dickens novel. Is this part of the set? You are so generous, and your friends are very lucky to have you in their lives. Now I'm off to see the First Verse. :-)

  26. Beautiful table! What a lovely gift idea to have Patti paint some teapots. I'll bet your friends were thrilled to pieces with them! I never thought to ask her to make something ~ I'll have to do that, as I love her black and white checked pieces.
