Two-fer, 2.5.13

First things first...We are truly blessed to have the means to set a pretty table and invite our friends to join us for good food and fellowship. I am mindful that many are not so fortunate. My daughter has a passion for the work of the Food Bank. As a singer-songwriter, she has written and recorded a song that is the anthem for the world wide Crop Hunger Walk project. Her song, "Raise Your Voice" is featured in their video. I've included a link in the side margin of my blog. I hope that it will encourage you to support projects in your community that contribute to the effort to overcome hunger.

Last week I shared the baby shower that I hosted, Waiting for Edie Elizabeth to Blossom.  The next day, I promptly came down with a vile upper respiratory infection and spent the better part of the next 8 days in bed...Boring.  When I finally felt like being up for a little bit, I took great pleasure in....playing with dishes, of course.  I came up with a "Two-fer", you know...two for one!  My flowers from the shower were holding on for dear life, so don't look too closely...

...Hey!  Quit squinting.  You'll get crows' feet!  It's just the same, only different.

Today I've introduced the hot pink glass charger...

...as a backdrop for the Copeland Spode Mayflower dinner plate.  The Reed & Barton Francis I was at hand, so on the table it went...plop!

The hot pink hemstitched napkins are once again found on eBay through a seller called onlinenapkins.   Tip:  These napkins are available in a multitude of colors for usually less than $2.00 per napkin.  I've come to view them as my go-to napkin for many designs.  I highly recommend them.

I removed the white French wired birdcage, but kept the existing elements for my centerpiece.

 Quit squinting, I say!

I couldn't resist adding the amethyst AJKA Arabella goblet and the hot pink goblet that I found at Marshalls on a trip to Scottsdale several years ago.  Do you remember my story? I found six of them and lamented in a post that I yearned for more.  One week later, I discovered a UPS box on my front porch.  Upon opening it, I discovered four more of these delightful stems...from an anonymous blogger.  The kindness of friends is overwhelming.

My energy was about expended by this time, but I did rebound long enough to grab some candlelight shots that evening...

This one is a rarity for me.  No one ever sat at this table.  It was simply for my pleasure...and hopefully for your pleasure, too.  I didn't want to expose anyone else to my malady.  As of this posting, I'm doing much better, and I'm preparing to set a table for a small Valentine Birthday luncheon for next week.  Hope to see you for Valentines Day!

I'm joining Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for  TABLE TOP TUESDAY.  Won't you come along , too?

Wednesday is the 46th edition of Cuisine Kathleen's meme, "LET'S DISH".  I'm excited to be a charter member.  Pop over (pun intended for the Chef Supreme Kathleen) and join the fun!

Lots of great ideas to be gathered when you visit Yvonne at Stone Gable forTUTORIALS, TIPS, & TIDBITS.  Don't waste another moment...hurry on over!

Thank you, yet again, to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting her magical meme, Tablescape Thursday.  I'll be linking my post to "TTABLESCAPE THURSDAYS."   Hop on over and check out the myriad of marvelous tablescape designs, after 10:00 AM on Thursdays.  You'll be glad that you made the trip...it's a wonderful adventure.

I always enjoy January for the expectations that it doesn't bring each year.  How about you?  With thankfulness for her dedication and efforts (even in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy), I'm joining the multi-talented Tablescaper for her fabulous meme  SEASONAL SUNDAYS.  Hope to see you there!

You can check out KC's music at www.kcclifford.com, on iTunes, and on YouTube.  I hope that you'll take a few minutes and give her a listen.  You'll also enjoy reading back through her blog on this site.  The girl can really write!  Her latest CD is called "The Tag Hollow Sessions""  It is available on iTunes or through her website.  I hope that you'll give her music a chance.  I know that I have zero objectivity where she is concerned, but I think that you'll fall in love with her music and her!

  1. Love your table, Cherry Kay. It's gorgeous. Did not even notice the condition of the flowers, lol. I love how you swirled the ribbon in your centerpiece, what a pretty color! I also love how the candle light was reflected through the those adorable candle holders....Christine

  2. Cherry Kay - you out-did yourself on this one. What an absolutely gorgeous table! All of the goblets are beautiful and the centerpiece is a work of art. I must learn that ribbon trick - you have that one down to perfection. Hope you will be well for the big day!

I had the flu this year during Christmas and it was the pits. I just had to say I love the pop of blue against the pink chargers. It's so vibrant and pretty! I hope you feel the same soon! Table looks lovely - It reminds me that spring is on its way. I have very little pink in my home, so I love seeing it in other's homes!

  9. So gorgeous, Cherry Kay! I love the purples and pinks, especially your stemware. Hope you are feeling better, so many have had it that nasty bug this year. We need more than a 24 hour frost to kill all these germs!

  12. So sorry to hear you've been so sick! You must be on the mend, if you were able to set such a pretty table, though! The hot pink chargers and napkins are perfect with the plates you chose--as well as the pink stemware. And how nice that you could "recycle" the flowers from the shower!

  13. This a lovely combination of bright pink with the purple/lavender plates. The chandelier is so pretty with the pink decorations. The centerpiece is still so beautiful with the candles and lighting. Love the china for my Mother has the set and it is a favorite of hers. Happy Valentines!

  14. Sounds like the horrible sickness I had over Christmas and it just wouldn't leave! I love this and how great to make two tables out of the flowers. I couldn't see a think, but I am in my 50s! No, seriously my reading vision is still great, luckily!!! Those hot pink chargers and pink goblets are something to envy. I haven't found any pink glasses I love and I definitely would love to have some. They, paired with the napkins, really make it pop!

  15. I'm soooo sorry to hear you were under the weather, Cherry Kay! I would have brought you some chicken soup if I could have, honest. I make GOOD chicken soup!

Nobody can "plop" together a more beautiful table than you, Hon. In fact, I thought of your pretty pink napkins when I saw your last tablescape. I adore them with those pink & purple stems!! WOW...lots of happiness. I did buy 8 or maybe it was 12 of the same color last time you mentioned them to us. I've used them once this summer but I didn't do photos, as I was taking a blogging break. Darn! I'll have to dig them out again. They'll be perfect for Spring, which I wish would hurry up!

  18. Hello Cherry Kay,

I am down for almost 2 weeks for the same reason I guess. But as you can see we both so alert with our memes, right?

  19. Cherry Kay,
What a delightful spring table! I love the pink and all the fresh bright colors. Your china is so pretty and is perfect for this time of year. I have one lone daffodil blooming in my yard this week so spring is just around the corner! Your entire table is gorgeous!

  20. First, glad to know you're feeling better. When that old bug latches on, it just seems like pulling eye teeth to get it to let go!!! I have crow's feet anyway, so I didn't care and I squinted. No problem with the flowers whatsoever. If they were on their last legs, they just have legs like Betty Grable because they were still lookin' pretty doggone good for their age! The table design is a knockout!!! It really is the touch of a true designer who can take elements for a table and tweak them just so to give it a totally different look. I've only used once the hot pink chargers that Marlis claims I "made" you buy! :-) :-) :-) You have so many more dish patterns to work with them! Or maybe I'm just being lazy. (Most likely scenario!) Stay well, my friend!

  22. Hi, Cherry Kay. I love doing two-fers as well -- actually my weekend guest regimine -- keep the flowers and change out the dishes. Where did you find the glass chargers? Now that you recommend the napkin seller, I might try them. Was afraid of what they would shrink to after the first wash. Your pink and purple stemware is 2Die4. Glad you are better after the RSV got you. Lovely table again.

  31. My favorite way of doing a table is building around something that is already there. You are going to have to get a lot of mileage from your chandelier!

  32. Wow what a gorgeous table. I sure can't tell you have been ill by the looks of this table, I would say you have a lot of energy for a woman not feeling well. Everything is beautiful, I love the goblets, I could have set at your table for a long time. Guess I could have held a napkin over my mouth so not to get any germs. Beautiful table.

I love the Lord as well and discovered my artistic side later in life. I am a pastel and oil artist, love to make cards and anything decorative I will attempt! This table setting is so lovely you must have someone over to enjoy it. I cant' wait to see how you could possibly top this for Valentines Day. Have a blessed week and I look forward to future posts.
