"First things first...We are truly blessed to have the means to set a pretty table and invite our friends to join us for good food and fellowship. I am mindful that many are not so fortunate. My daughter has a passion for the work of the Food Bank. As a singer-songwriter, she has written and recorded a song that is the anthem for the world wide Crop Hunger Walk project. Her song, "Raise Your Voice" is featured in their video. I've included a link in the side margin of my blog. During this beautiful season when we celebrate harvest and Thanksgiving, I hope that it will encourage you to support projects in your community that contribute to the effort to overcome hunger.

I've had so much fun blogging with you in 2011. You have blessed me with your encouragement and your kind comments. There is a spot in my mind that is brainstorming...thinking that there is surely a way for many of us to make arrangements and somehow have a real-life lunch together. Would any of you ever make a trip to the center of the nation if a good number of us could actually come together? I'll be happy to provide the location...my back yard, which would probably make October the best bet...we have gorgeous Octobers here on the prairie. Just a thought at the moment, but I would be willing to pursue the reality if enough of you are interested. Let's start a conversation about it.
This week I decided to join a portion of you and present a retrospective of some of my favorite tablescapes from 2011. If you want to look at an entire post, the title/link will be directly under each photo. I hope that you enjoy my "Sentimental Journey."

Whew...that was almost a day trip. If you wish to review any of my other 2011 tablescapes, they are accessible through the archives in the right margin of my blog. I look forward to taking a stroll through your posts this week. Thanks for graciously indulging my passion for Entertaining Women. I hope that I know the blessing of entertaining you one day!
Thank you, yet again, to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting her magical meme, Tablescape Thursday. I'll be linking my post to "TABLESCAPE THURSDAY." Hop on over and check out the myriad of marvelous tablescape designs, after 9:00 pm on Wednesdays. You'll be glad that you made the trip...it's a wonderful adventure.
You can check out KC's music at www.kcclifford.com, on iTunes, and on YouTube. I hope that you'll take a few minutes and give her a listen. You'll also enjoy reading back through her blog on this site. The girl can really write! Her latest CD is called "Orchid." It is available on iTunes or through her website. I hope that you'll give her music a chance. I know that I have zero objectivity where she is concerned, but I think that you'll fall in love with her music and her!
That was lovely. I remember Hen Party, and the one about a few of your favorite things. Both lovely!
ReplyDeleteI had given some thought to joining some bloggers in Georgia in October, but plans for the get-together fell through. Oklahoma City? - a visit to a place I in 1980? It's tempting. I'll see where the plans go.....
I'm the first of what I'm sure will be many, many comments on these beautiful, beautiful tables! Since I have your button on my page I saw your post immediately. You have beautiful things, especially linens (my weakness too...well, one of many weaknesses :) ), and you use it all so beautifully. I'm really glad I didn't miss this post! Happy new year to you. I wish I could say I'd be able to join you in a gathering...not likely this year, though, but it's a great idea! Happy new year! ~Zuni
ReplyDeleteI always love the looks back as the pages turn to the new year AalwYs love to see your pretty tables
ReplyDeleteWow! You should know how to set an elegant table. I always enjoy visiting so I can visualize being a guest at one of your most treasured and opulent tables. Thanks for sharing... Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteNot sure I could make it. Your posts have meant so much to me and have helped me grow, learn and become. They have helped me tap into a part of myself anew. Like you, I have found the holidiay meals getting better because of Entertaining Women. It would sure make for a great trip. I will make it a matter of prayer.
ReplyDeleteOH my goodness! Love this gallery of gorgeous tables, each one just as wonderful as the one before! You truly inspire graceful dining! Happy New Year!

So so glad you took us along for this sentimental journey! Your tables are always a joy to look at. There is so much to gleam from each table. Hope your new year is a happy one, and that all your dreams come true. xo marlis
ReplyDeleteYes, you are right, some people can hardly provide food for there tables, so we are blessed. I hope we can continue to be so, the way this world seems to be going. Put that aside, I love all your colorful crystal, I have always loved color on the table. And your table cloths are so fun and original. I have enjoyed this post, Hope you do have a wonderful 2012.Richard from My Old Historic House.
ReplyDeleteHi Cherry Kay! They are all just so lovely! The crystal stems make me swoon! If I come in October, make sure you check my pockets before I leave lol! Seriously, I would definitely consider it, sounds so fun and would love to see your creations in person!!
ReplyDeleteOklahoma in October? I'm definitely willing to consider it if it's not Board meeting weekend. Sure would be fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was fun going along on your Sentimental Journey. STILL can't decide which table is my favorite; it's either A Touch of Italy ... or perhaps Amethyst and Toile. Too hard to choose. They're all fantastically different!
Thank you for the sentimental journey. I could never select a favorite from one of your tablescapes. We are all definitely blessed. I think of that daily.
ReplyDeleteA gathering in October sounds like a fun idea. Not certain if I could join, but will keep it in mind. Thanks! ~ Sarah
Each and everyone of these tablescapes portray true beauty, Cherry Kay. I am so glad I got to meet you here in Blogland. You are so creative and talented...Christine
ReplyDeleteAll of your tables and your dishes are sooooo beautiful. I just drool thru the screen! Fantastic tables! Happy 2012 XO Cindy
ReplyDeleteWhat a great year of tablescape posts. Your fabulously beautiful stemware always catches my eye first and brings me into the table for a closer look at all the rest. Each table every week is so outstanding. I'm looking forward to seeing all the ones for 2012. Have a super year!
ReplyDeleteThey are all so lovely! I couldn't pick a favorite.
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely elements to each table.
Your tablescape are so beautiful! Happy New Year!

1. I always get giddy when I am about to visit your blog because I know I'm going to swoon over the amazing eye candy and my heart goes pitter patter over all the beauty!!! BUT....to see a retrospective of several of your stunners....WOW!@!!!!!! LOVED IT!@!!!!
ReplyDelete2. I would LOVE to come out your way for a tablescape event. My only request would be that it is at the end of October because Tom comes home Oct. 10th and we will want to see him after his year's absence. Of course, I know you need to do it when it's convenient for you and everyone else...but I'd REALLY love to come.
3. Interestingly, I was thinking about inviting a bunch of you who aren't too far away (you're in GA, right? Or am I having a ditzy moment and not remembering correctly?) to help me with a tablescape party to raise money for an opera/music/arts non-profit here in Huntsville. I've heard that the tablescape events can be very good fund-raisers and they're so much fun for the participants.
Merry Christmas/Happy New Year/Hugs/Blessings,
Lana
Each tablescape is stunning, a real work of the art of tablescaping! I love them all, I can't choose one! Happy New Year. Visiting from TT.

What a beautiful journey!! Your tables are always so warm and inviting! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI think OKC is just about a 5-1/2 hour drive from KC. My sister's in-laws live there, so I could make it a great 2-for-1 trip!!! I'm in!!! I have so enjoyed getting to know you over the last year or so, and I have admired each and every table you have created. Looking forward to all the beautiful tables in the coming year...and to having lunch!
ReplyDeleteOh such glorious tables! How wonderful to see them again. If I had to choose a favorite, and I'm glad I don't have to, I think I'd have to go with the pink and greens. It's so sweet and luxurious.
ReplyDelete- The Tablescaper
I have loved your tablescapes every week, so this was fun to go have a "walk through" and see so many again!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your 2012 tables!!
Big wow! Such a gorgeous collection of tablescapes! The Amethyst and Toile is beautiful and the Easter one is fabulous! I love those frilly bowls!
ReplyDeleteThe Few of My Favorite Things is simply elegant! You do have some of the most beautiful dishes and accent pieces!
I am one of many, I suspect, who doesn't have a blog or a way to post a table, but who eagerly looks forward to Tablescape Thursdays. And, your tables are always a treat. I am in awe of your different china, stemware and linens. Just beautiful. I am equally impressed with the frequency of your entertaining. So, if loyal followers are included in your gathering, I would love to try to attend. It would be a journey, but what fun to meet some of the wonderful people who invite me into their dining rooms each week. If nothing else, it is such a generous offer. MM
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of meeting in October for a real live lunch! Let me know what I can do to help arrange. Your tables are of course fantastic. It has been a joy to follow, and email you this year. Here's to more exchanges in 2012! ~CJ
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun trip back through some of your highlights of 2011! And your post's title made me smile -- Sentimental Journey is a song my parents used to sing with us on car trips, and my siblings and I sang it for them at their 50th anniversary party.
ReplyDeleteAll of your tables are so exquisite! But I am a sucker for the pastels. Your Easter table is my absulute favorite. I love the pink ruffled glass and floral dishes. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteTricia again -- I forgot to say that I would be interested in a tablescaper get-together at your house. You're not THAT far from central Texas!
ReplyDeleteOh my what a delightful thought of meeting my new found friends of blogland. I would love to entertain the idea of a get togeather if timing was right. Sure would love to hear about any plans.
ReplyDeleteYour tablescapes are all amazing. Each is beautiful and so different. You certainly have a talent for this. I enjoyed visiting each one.
May your New Year be fabulous.

ReplyDeleteHi Cherry Kay,
ReplyDeleteHappy 2012 to you! I love every one of these tables. I have SO enjoyed reading your posts every week and seeing your lovely tables. You are so talented and have so many beautiful things to work with. Most importantly, your kind and generous spirit comes through in all your posts and you've been so encouraging to me in my efforts.
It's funny you mention getting together for lunch. I've often thought it would be great to meet some of our wonderful blogger friends in person, but we are so scattered across the country, and across the globe, for that matter. I would love to visit, but I don't know if it's in our budget this year. Our son still has a year and a half of college to go. :)
Thanks for sharing a recap of your year in tablescaping. I look forward to seeing your new creations in 2012!
Hugs,
Denise
Again, your tablescapes are all amazing! Such talented tablescaper you are. I came to invite you to visit me as I have a giveaway for my year of blogging, all you have to do is comment on the giveaway, that's it! Goddluck dear Cherry Kay.
