A Blue Retrospective

First things first...We are truly blessed to have the means to set a pretty table and invite our friends to join us for good food and fellowship. I am mindful that many are not so fortunate. My daughter has a passion for the work of the Food Bank. As a singer-songwriter, she has written and recorded a song that is the anthem for the world wide Crop Hunger Walk project. Her song, "Raise Your Voice" is featured in their video. I've included a link in the side margin of my blog. I hope that it will encourage you to support projects in your community that contribute to the effort to overcome hunger.

I think that Marlis @ CREATIVE JOURNEYS has started something with her post last week on tablescaping with blue and white.  I've read comments all this week that lead me to think that we're going to see a boat load of tables in shades of blue.  I've decided that I'll join the fun, too.  Tonight I want to share a retrospective of my tablescapes in shades and hues of blue, my favorite color.  If you wish to visit any of the posts, just click on the title below the picture.  Warning:  You may feel like you've read a text book if you make it all the way to the end.  You may want to scroll quickly.  Here we go...

You can check out KC's music at www.kcclifford.com, on iTunes, and on YouTube.  I hope that you'll take a few minutes and give her a listen.  You'll also enjoy reading back through her blog on this site.  The girl can really write!  Her latest CD is called "The Tag Hollow Sessions""  It is available on iTunes or through her website.  I hope that you'll give her music a chance.  I know that I have zero objectivity where she is concerned, but I think that you'll fall in love with her music and her!

Blue is definitely one of those classic colors that will never go out of style in my book! Isn't it fun when you can look back on so many of the tablescapes you have created in the past and see both the progress you have made over the years and the common threads? You have undoubtedly hosted some of the most beautiful brunches and lunches and dinners under the sun! I couldn't pick a favorite if you put a gun to my head...they all have something different that just draws me in! Thank you for turning my current blues into a completely different meaning tonight! :-)

Cherry Kay, without a doubt, you have the most exquisite collection of tableware in the whole world! I am always jealous (in a very nice way!) of the gorgeous collection of crystal that you own. These blue tables are so stunning that it is difficult to choose a favorite. However, I did spy some Wedgwood plates that I have been debating purchasing. After seeing that table, maybe, I will jump right in and get them. They remind me of Jasperware - one of my obsessions! Love this post!!

All of these tables are absolutely exquisite. I have often thought about adding the blue quail to my collection of dishes. I may have just been nudged to do that.

Cherry Kay, I know that I have already commented on this post, but I just have to say that, as I am looking at all of your tables, again, I am almost speechless. You do own so many beautiful pieces, but the way you use your creative talents to put them all together is amazing. Thank you for sharing all of them!

Lisa said...

Well, the tablescapes are all perfectly lovely, but what I was most impressed with was your being aware of those who are less fortunate. It is wonderful to have the means to make beauty but MORE important to have compassion for those with little. I don't see much of that in blog land.
