Follow Up to Prayer Request

I must look like such a malingerer. While KC was in the hospital, I began to have problems walking. I began  losing my balance and falling into doors, walls, and furniture. I thought that I must be failing knee replacement rehabilitation, but learned that my back is the culprit. Evidently I have scoliosis, previously undiagnosed, and several crushed and compressed discs that were causing my muscles to be unable to function properly. I've been in pretty intensive physical therapy since the end of April. Prayerfully I won't have to undergo back surgery. Add to that the irritating situation of my computer not running properly, and being unable to go to the Apple store in the mall to get help...I've been incredibly frustrated that I've been unable to publish anything with photos on my blog. I'm currently "limping" along on my iPad.

KC and Hollis are home safely now, and they were allowed to take him out of the house for the first time this weekend...just in time for Fathers Day. He's doing well and beginning to gain weight. He's such a good baby boy! I can hardly wait to share pictures of him with everyone.

I've been thrilled to be able to hold him and feed him, although I'm not yet able to stand and walk with him in my arms. My balance is still too compromised to take a risk. I'll get there at some point, I'm certain.

Thank you so much for your prayers. They were definitely answered!  I appreciate hearing from you. I hope that I'll be able to carry my computer to get some help from the Apple Store before too long. I really miss my blogging friends!  Warmly, Cherry Kay

  3. Oh, Cherry Kay, it is good to see this post from you, but obviously concerned about the news. Yes, prayers!
I've had my own computer issues. Seems my laptop qualified for a recall. Odd that they never contacted me. '-)
But I'm without my laptop these days and making do.
Take care, sweet friend. I hope you can get some relief. I'm thrilled about the baby news.
Texas hugs sent your way ~ Sarah

  12. This is something interesting for you, since I have been following your blog, I have become more interested in china and linens, etc. than I ever was before. I had an opportunity to visit a dear friend of mine who lives in Hickory NC, which is 350 miles from my driveway to hers....the road splits in Greensboro NC and guess what is there...Replacements...my husband and two boys will never let me stop because there when we are together because "I don't need anything from there"....but since I was alone...I sold a few things, bought a few things, and spent a couple of hours touching everything....I think when you are all mended, you should take a 'field trip!'

Suzanne.....I am so jealous!! I would love to go to Replacements!!
Cherry Kay and KC...I hope all is going well with you two and will be glad to see you back to telling us how to "do up" a table....complete with baby pictures of course!!
    Blessings to all of you,

  14. Somehow I missed this update. I'm so sorry to hear you are having this back issue causing the balance problem. I found out in my 50's that I have scoliosis in an area real high up. My daughter has the same thing as it turns out. I read it's often an inherited condition. The only problem I've ever had and never understood why is when I hold my arms up high to do something it gets to me real quick. Now I know why. I'm glad to see your daughter and grandchild are doing well. Take care, Liz

  18. Dear Cherry Kay, I am so very sorry to hear about your issues. I sent you a frivolous email a while back without knowing this. Forgive me. I hope that you are continuing to heal. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to do the things you want to do. I am very happy to hear that your grandbaby is doing well. I look forward to hearing that you are up and about, setting a beautiful table and holding that grandbaby all that you want. I am sure he is the perfect medicine! Take care ... Barbara

  23. Hi, Cherry Kay. I, too, have been away from blogging for several months, thankfully with a summer when we welcomed our own grandson and enjoyed the precious gift, so I've not seen that you, too, have been away. I write in the hopes that at some point you will see that I stopped by, with assurance of continued prayers for Hollis and his entire family (I was so pleased and relieved to see that he is home), and of course for you as you maneuver through your physical therapy. Just wanted you to know I'm sorry to read of these challenges you have faced, relieved at God's answer to the many, many prayers, and that you can count on my prayers as well. ~Zuni
